Apple iPhone 3G

Apple iPhone 3GJust as everybody expected, Stevie gave the world what it wanted, the 2nd generation iPhone, the iPhone 3G. It wasn’t smooth sailing though; we had to wait about 1 hour and 30 minutes before it was introduced in the Keynote Steve made. We had to sit through many other services and products that support the iPhone, which is great and cool, but we could not pay attention because we were anxious to see the new iPhone.

Here are the specs:
- GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
- HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
- 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3 mm
- Weighs 133 grams
- 3.5-inch Touchscreen with 16M colors
- Multi-touch input method
- Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate
- Proximity sensor for auto turn-off
- Ambient light sensor
- 8/16 GB shared memory
- GPRS, EDGE, and HSDPA
- Wi-Fi 802.11b/g
- Bluetooth and USB
- Mac OS X v10.4.10
- 2 megapixel camera
- Built-in GPS receiver
- A-GPS function
- 300 hours of Stand-by time
- 10 hours of talk time

While the iPhone 3G was over hyped in terms of the different features it will get, this phone is a great upgrade for just $200.00 USD, with a 2 year contract of course. The only thing that I can really complain here is the camera. It seriously needs an upgrade and video capturing ability as well!

Samsung i900 Omnia

Samsung i900 OmniaAny touchscreen cell phone that was or will be released after the iPhone will be compared to it because Apple always raise the bar and set a high standard for any product it creates. But this time, Samsung made it clear that its i900 Omnia should be compared with the iPhone and show its superiority by official announcing it one day before the 2nd generation iPhone will be introduced.

Here are the specs:
- GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900

- Handwriting recognition
- MicroSD memory slot (up to 16GB)
- 8 GB/16 GB internal memory
- Data GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 – 48 kbps
- EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps
- 3G HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps

- Java MIDP 2.0
- FM Radio with RDS
- MSOffice document viewer
- MP3/AAC/AAC+/WMA/OGG/AMR player
- DivX/XviD/WMV/MP4 player

There are no doubts that the i900 will beat the iPhone in terms of how many features it packs into this slim body. The camera, memory size, data speed, and GPS chip are some examples of how this phone will be better than the yet-to-be-announced 3G iPhone. But there are at least two factors that will make the 3G iPhone win in term of sales: the user-friendliness of the iPhone’s OS versus Windows Mobile and the fact that there will be tons of software that will be made for it once manufacturer starts releasing it using the SDK. But if you are a business person, the i900 will definitely the “it” phone to have.
