 Here is a proactive approach, while viruses and malicious programs have not damage the majority of cell phone users, it is inevitable. Instead of waiting to have a disease to cure, Cingular is taking preventitive step to lighten the burden of viruses on its users, and make a little money at the same time. They have teamed with antivirus provider McAfee to offer McAfee VirusScan Mobile to its customers. The cost will be $29.99 per year, which includes automatic, over the air updates. It will be available on a range of handsets running both Symbian Series 60 and Windows Mobile and is designed to not only protect against e-mail, IM and internet download viruses, but also points of entry like SMS and Bluetooth.The first proof-of-concept virus specifically targeting phones showed up in June of 2004.
