Pentax released a “standard-class” camera called the Optio M40. I am guessing what they mean by standard-class is one above the entry-level cheap model. The M40 looks pretty good and slim, but it functions is just average, therefore it fits right there in the middle between cheap and expensive.
Here are the features:
- 8 megapixels sensor
- Digital SR (Shake Reduction)
- Face Recognition AF & AE
- Diversity of flash photography possible
- Auto Picture mode
- 16 different photography modes
- 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom
- 2.5-inch LCD screen
- Movie SR (Shake Reduction)
- Auto-Macro mode
- New Date Imprint function
- 20MB of built-in memory
As you can see, there are a little more functions than the E40, also introduced today. The M40 also fits nicely in an 18 mm thin body. You can expect to see the M40 this August for about $200.00 USD.
